A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Burgos in Ilocos Norte late Friday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The tremor, which was of tectonic origin with a depth of 20 kilometers, occurred at 23:05 south-east of the city of Burgos.

The earthquake was also felt in the following areas:

Intensity V – Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Burgos, Laoag City, Nueva Era, Pagudpud, Vintar and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte Intensity IV – Badoc, Banna, Batac City, Carasi, Currimao, Dingras, Dumalneg, Marcos, Paoay, Piddig, Pinili , Sarrat and San Nicolas, Ilocos North; Sinait and city of Vigan, Ilocos Sur; Lagangilang, Licuan-Baay and Tineg, Abra; Intensity III – Bantay, Lidlidda, Santa Catalina and San Vicente, Ilocos Sur; Solsona, Ilocos North; Bontoc, Mountain Province Intensity II – Santa, Ilocos Sur; Buguias and Mankayan, Benguet; Sagada, Mountain Province Intensity I – Bantay, Ilocos Sur; Sablan, Benguet
